Amur Leopard Count Rises Again

Camera-trap census in Land of the Leopard suggests continued slow growth in the world's rarest big cat.

The population has moved from roughly thirty animals in the early 2000s to around a hundred and thirty adults today, with cross-border movement into Jilin province now regularly documented.

It remains critically endangered and the total range is small enough that a single disease event or major fire could undo two decades of work. But the direction of travel has been consistent for fifteen years, which is rare enough to be worth stating.
