Meerkat

One animal stands sentinel while the group forages, calling in a graded system that distinguishes aerial threat from ground threat and near from far. Sentinel duty is genuinely costly — the guard eats less — and it rotates. In most groups a single dominant pair produces the litters, while subordinates carry, guard and feed pups that are not their own.

Adults teach. Pups are brought live scorpions with the sting removed, then progressively intact prey, in a graded sequence that tracks the pup's begging calls rather than its age. It is one of the cleanest demonstrations of teaching in a non-human animal, and it exists because a mishandled scorpion is a real injury.
