Africa is where most wildlife photography learns its bad habits: too much light, too many animals, too easy a frame. The work is to resist the inventory shot and wait for structure — a line of movement, a single subject against negative space, weather doing something to the horizon.
The dry season concentrates animals on water. The calving season concentrates predators on the young. Both are honest, and both demand a clear decision about what you are actually there to say.
