Uniform stone, uniform roofline, one accent colour: the zinc grey of ten thousand roofs.
Haussmann's rebuilding gave Paris something no other capital has — a consistent palette. Cream limestone, zinc roofs, black ironwork, and almost nothing tall enough to break the line. Photograph it from any rooftop and it composes itself.
Which means the challenge is the opposite of Dubai: everything is harmonious, so nothing stands out. You need weather, or you need to work small — a single balcony, a wet street, one lit window in a hundred dark ones.
