Accessible, well-documented, and still capable of genuine wildness.
Yellowstone in winter is the clearest wildlife classroom in the world: wolves visible at distance across open valleys, elk under pressure, and a documented before-and-after on what a returned predator does to a river system.
The coastal option is entirely different — Alaskan and British Columbian salmon runs, bears in tidal grass, and a photographic problem defined by rain rather than cold.
